What We've Done
The Fruita 8/9 NJHS has been striving to make a difference for years. Please check out these projects that have been completed so far!
Rimrock Volunteering
In February, NJHS went to Rimrock Elementary School after to help teach the fourth grade students about latitude and longitude. NJHS members helped teach the students through games and explanation.
Concession Stands
Four of NJHS's officers volunteered take a trip to Bookcliff Middle School to sell concessions at a school fair in January!
2013-2014 Water for Life Partner School:
Maria Auxiliadora Primary School​

Two years ago, the Fruita 8/9 NJHS helped raise money for Maria Auxiliadora Primary School in the southwest Dominican Republic. Our contributions helped install a WASH program for 813 children, providing washing/sanitary stations, safe drinking water supplies for the school and community, and 10 more years of maintenance hygiene system maintenance and hygiene education. As a school, we raised $850!

2014-2015 Water for Life Partner School:
South Sudan School 5
Last year, we raised money to provide water for South Sudan School 5. As part of our fundraiser, NJHS sold suckers at Fruita 8/9 as a way to raise money. The suckers (gourmet lollipops) were sold at $2 apiece, and all proceeds went towards building a water well at this school in Sudan. Without safe water in communities like those surrounding South Sudan School 5, millions must trek many miles to gather water that they could eventually die from due to parasites and disease-causing bacteria.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We held a bake sale for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October 2014 and raised $73 on cookies, muffins, and other goodies alone! The money we raised went to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Thank you to all that helped make this possible and, of course, those of you who purchased these treats!
